Crysis 2

This week we see the release of the long awaited Crysis 2 on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360. The release goes ahead on time despite EA and Crytek having huge problems with the demo, resulting in it being cut short for 'damage mitigation'. Obviously the developers didn't phrase it like that, but it is clear the demo was putting more people off the game than persueding them to buy it.

I managed to try the PS3 version extensivly in the few days the demo was running. While the game did suffer framerate issues and it is obvious from the graphics it is bad 360 port, the gameplay was actually quite fun. It definately feels like a Call of Duty rip off with a few extra gimicks from the nanosuit, but it still kept me playing for hours.

The developers claim the network and framerate issues have been fixed for the final release, and stated that the demos were old builds with the new game looking a lot better.

I will be picking the game up on friday (UK release) although i'm still undecided on the platform. We'll have to wait until then to find out if EA and Crytek have kept there word and sorted out all the problems in time.
